I stopped at Rod’s Western Palace on my way back to Cincinnati from a conference in Cleveland. Rod’s is located on the north side of downtown Columbus, Ohio off of Interstate 71. Be on the lookout for the big “horse sign” out front. If you wear cowboy boots you will notice as soon as you walk in the store the sound of boots hitting the wood plank floor. There is something about the deep hollow sound that makes one stand up straight and walk like a “cowboy”. I guess some stores use smell and music to energize you but this boot sound just set the mood for me.

Rod’s is full of all things western. Racks of western clothing align the walls along with western decor. This place has western style in the midst of a city removed from the “west”.  If you are visiting the Columbus area be sure to add a visit to Rod’s Western Palace.
