Howler Brothers, an Austin, Texas based outdoor clothing retailer, offers a few styles of snap button shirts for outdoor enthusiasts.

I recently came across Howler Brothers when I was searching for stores that carry snap button shirts. Howler appears to be a great brand reaching passionate outdoor enthusiasts. If your heart aches to be on the river casting a fly or your soul is connected to the sound of the crashing surf then give them a look over. They carry four snap button shirt styles – the Gancho Snapshirt, H Bar B Snapshirt, Stockman Flannel Snapshirt and the Crosscut Snapshirt.
The shirts are out of my price range so I don’t have any of the shirts to give you an accurate review but I will give you my general thoughts based on the product images and description. Each style is linked so you view product images and order your own shirt and grab one of their snapback mesh hats.
Gancho Snapshirt
The regular Gancho Snapshirt comes in two colors: Marfa Plaid – Blue and Camp Plaid Stone. The shirts are made “of a lightweight, quick drying poly-cotton blend and featuring a cooling mesh lined vented back yoke”. I bet this helps in keeping you cool when the sun is beating on you and protected from the painful sunburn when fly fishing in the Keys. Or, in my case, when the sun rays are beaming into your office window heating up your back while you type away at a web project and dreaming of another place.
The Gancho is also available in various limited edition “Mutation” styles featuring embroidered work on the shirt.
Pecador Shirt
An interesting shirt with a snap button yoke hiding a pocket. It’s describes as the “perfect fishing shirt”. Available in these color styles: Tyson Plaid Lemon Drop, Tyson Plaid Fuzzy Navel, Tyson Plaid Zeppelin Gray, Yodeler Plaid Backcountry and Yodeler Plaid Oceanside Blue
H Bar B Snapshirt
This shirt is no longer available on the Howler Brother’s website. Its style is a classic western short sleeve snap shirt that is at home at any location. Available in a few different styles. The Lafayette Plaid (Brownie and Blue/Off White) and the Vintage Floral (Aged Stone and Mojito).
Stockman Flannel Snapshirt
When the weather turns cold hang up the “Gancho” and put on the “Stockman”. This flannel blend of cotton and polyester will keep the chill at bay. Splitting axe and woodstove not included. The shirt come in two colors: Dove Heather and Deepest Blue Heather.
Crosscut Snapshirt
I like this one since it features “sawtooth” flaps on the chest pockets that have two snaps. It is available in three colors: Oatmeal Microstripe, High Seas Microstripe and Plains Plaid – Sawdust (my favorite).
I love the way Howler Brothers has changed the design of the shirt tag so that the Howler name is laid out as a rope – a true western feel.
Howler Brothers, thanks for making some great looking snap button shirts for those who need a snap shirt that works both in the office and out on the stream.
